A cavalry group emerges from the arch cut out of the great tree "California;" In front are four mounted men; behind these are a further two groups; on the other side of the arch there appears to be a final group; in the right middle ground is a man on a horse perpendicular to the cavalry emerging from the tree; behind the tree "arch" is a grove of trees.
