Photograph caption dated September 15, 1959 reads "When 94 children started kindergarten today at Thomas Edison Elementary School, 2110 Chestnut St., Burbank, it marked not only their first official school day, but it was also the first for one of their teachers, Mrs. Mary Rahn, left, of 322 E. Verdugo Ave, Burbank. Dewey Jones, 5, right, of 922 W. Burbank Blvd., hands his registration card to Mrs. Rahn as other children in background enter room and at same time, new experience of life, that of going to school, 'just like the big kids.'"
