Block party to dedicate a mural painted in memory of a friend killed in a gang conflict. A bare-chest, unidentified man wearing dark sunglasses shows off his tattoos, some of which read: "West side", "Cuban pride", "Echo Park", "EP", etc. Several children can be seen sitting at tables behind him. Theresa Powers painted the 30' x 18' acrylic mural, located on Echo Park Avenue at Duane Street, with neighborhood youth. It reads, "Will we still be back being the same way?" Photograph dated August 23, 1997.
