Photograph of an exterior view of a schoolhouse in Columbia, 1894. The right side of the large brick building reveals a staircase which leads to the two stories. In the center of the roof a short bell tower can be seen while the ten rectangular windows on the visible side view several skeletal trees in the surrounding yard of dirt. Picture file card reads "This is believed to be the oldest school house in California today. It opened its first term April 14, 1862".
