Santa Cruz Roller Palladium Landmark Photo Project 1606 Seabright Avenue The Palladium had its grand opening on Nov. 30, 1950. Denny and Heddy Sargeant, who operated a hot dog stand on Pacific Avenue, decided to construct the rink's floor with maple wood at a cost of $10,000, Diane and Rick Ethrington took over the facility in 1986. The "Wall of Courage" mural was painted in April 2000. This was a Jacob's Heart project, with children with cancer drawing images of courage.
