Some 600 home and boat owners in the Redondo Beach harbor area held a mass meeting in the city park to protest the fallout of smog particles on their property and to fill out complaint forms and petitions. The group petitioned the Federal Power Commission to allot more natural gas to Southern California, so that the local steam plant, Southern California Edison Co., could burn gas the year around. The speakers and placard carriers blamed the fallout on the burning of residual fuel oil by the plant. Photo dated: March 7, 1967.
