Description
Garfield School opened in 1906 at 7th Street, between 7th and 6th Streets and between Olympic Blvd. and Michigan Avenue. With a diverse student body, Garfield had the distinction of many firsts: the first school cafeteria, the first Parent-Teachers Association and the first kindergarten in Santa Monica. The school was demolished in 1985.
