Photograph of Sioux Indians at Standing Rock Reservation in South Dakota shooting steers at a beef issue, ca.1891. There is a wooden corral at center in which there are many steers those on the right have been shot and are lying down in the dirt, while some of those on the left are still standing. There is gun smoke rising from the left side of the corral. There are many Indians gathered at left, some mounted and some sitting on the corral to watch the shooting. There are several horse-drawn vehicles on the grassy prairie in the background.
