Microfilm of the autobiography of William Coe Critchlow, written in about 1890. The account includes Critchlow's family history and genealogy and notes on his injury on the Pennsylvania canal, his conversion to Mormonism, his move to Nauvoo, and the death of Joseph Smith. William Coe Critchlow (1809-1894) was born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. He worked on the Pennsylvania canal near Saltsburg and in 1838 was severely injured, rendering him partly paralyzed for life. In 1839 he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and presided over the Leechburg branch of the Church until 1842. He moved to Nauvoo in 1844 and departed for Iowa in 1846. He lived in Iowa and Missouri until 1851, when he departed for Utah. In 1852 he was made justice of the peace of Weber County and also served as clerk and recorder for Weber County. He died in Ogden in 1894.
