In this interview, Ming Lo Shao, head of the non-profit organizations, Bright China Management Institute and Bright China Foundation, discusses his work with Peter Drucker. He begins by describing his work with both Bright China Organizations and the need for China to harness its greatest resource, its population and how education plays into that. Ming Lo Shao then explains that he met Drucker through a mutual acquaintance, William Pollard, who was working with the ServiceMaster Foundation at that time. He then discusses similar values and purposes that he feels he and Drucker share, specifically the importance of management education. He also explains the consulting work that Drucker did for Bright China and what he calls Drucker’s “…very practical and consistent,” advice. He also argues that Drucker’s ideas and entrepreneurship have had a significant influence on Chinese businesses other than his own. He finishes the interview by discussing the importance of “keeping face” in Chinese business by making good decisions.
