In 1931, the California State Building was constructed. It suffered severe damage as a result of the 1971 Sylmar Earthquake and needed to be demolished.
The demolition of the California State Building on February 17, 1976, as seen from Broadway. Neighboring structures seen include City Hall and City Hall East.
