Description
In the wake of the October 17, 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake, Caltrans commissioned an oral history project to document the personal and professional experiences of Caltrans employees who worked to restore the State's damaged transportation system. At the time of this recording Frank Pacholl was a Structural Paint Superintendent for Caltrans. He described what he saw while driving to Caltrans East Bay Paint Yard. His job did not change in after the earthquake however, the people he supervised had their roles change significantly who did not have days off for weeks afterwards.
