Description: Alum Rock House provided lodging to visitors to Alum Rock Park in the 1870s and 1880s. It stood on the south side of the canyon opposite the main bridge across Penitencia Creek. It burned down in 1890.

Master images scanned at 300 dpi and scaled to 6000 pixels on the longest side. Bit depth: grayscale at 8-bit; color at 24-bit. Images compressed to 800 pixels across the long dimension and to JPEG format. Scanning outsourced to Luna Imaging Inc. as part of an LSTA Grant funded by the California State Library in 2003-2004. Scanning hardware is unknown.
