Crowds are gathered for the arrival of the "Thomas Flyer," at the Lamotte House, northeast corner of Santa Clara Street and San Pedro Street. To get a better view, four women stand on the seats of a car. The 1908 New York to Paris Automobile Race was sponsored by the New York Times and Le Matin. National teams competed.
