Description
In a letter, Garrick writes to playwright Robert Jephson about the scandal of Isaac Bickerstaff and his sudden departure. Garrick laments the loss of Bickerstaff as the writer had recently been "preparing some pieces that would have been both profitable & creditable." Garrick goes on to describe the work of a Mr. Courtney and adds: "his Pen I hope will find better Employment here." He ends with a commentary on Jephson's work and informs him that he has searched for his work in the "Publick Advertiser." He adds his wife's well-wishes and ends the letter. Letter contains secondhand notations, a wax seal, a watermark, and some postage markings. Postage markings give a date of May 20th. Image four scan has been rotated 90 degrees to the right.
