Errol Leslie Thomson Flynn was an Australian actor most famous for his romantic swashbuckler roles and his flamboyant lifestyle. Flynn was discovered by a Warner Brothers executive who signed him and shipped him to America as a contract actor. In 1935 Flynn married Lily Damita (born Liliane Marie-Madeleine Carre), a French silent film actress, who in 1928 at the invitation of Samuel Goldwin, also came to Hollywood and made her American debut. When she married Flynn in May of 1935, she was the star of the family, and he was a virtual unknown. That was soon to change, as Flynn became an overnight sensation with his first starring role in December of the same year. The couple had a son in 1941, and divorced in 1942; that same year Flynn became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. Flynn died after having suffered a massive heart attack in Vancouver in 1959. He is interred at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale. He received two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame: Motion Pictures (6654 Hollywood Blvd) and Television (7008 Hollywood Blvd). Lily Damita died of Alzheimer's disease in Palm Beach, Florida in March 1994 at the age of 89 and is interred in the Oakland Cemetery in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
