Photograph caption dated November 14, 1947 reads, "I don't kiss strangers," says Barbara Jean Ludlow (arrow), 11, as she draws away from a "stranger" - her own mother, Mrs. Margaret Ludlow Vess, 28, right, in this dramatic scene in court where Mrs. Vess won custody of the child from her former husband, Bradley R. Ludlow. In rear, Ludlow; his present wife, Inez, and sheriff deputies look on. Mrs. Vess said she spent seven years looking for child."
