Photograph caption dated April 20, 1956 reads, "Mid-valley community of Lancaster which zoomed from 3,594 residents in 1950 to 21,500 last year is hub of county services in Antelope Valley. Town's growth is paralleled in Palmdale, 19 miles south. New 89-bed Antelope Valley Hospital was recently completed. A $500,00 civic center is on drawing boards. Helicopter firm plans 'carriage trade' commuter service from Lancaster and Palmdale to downtown Los Angeles within 10 years."; See images #00116668 through #00116673 for all photos in this series.
