Description
Photograph of a view of the intersection of Commercial Street (later Alameda Street) and Main Street in Sonora Town, ca.1870. At center, a wide, dirt road extends into the background, filled with pedestrians and horse-drawn carts. In the foreground, one-story shop buildings are visible, each with a wooden awning. At right, a cluster of barrels stands by the sidewalk near the Sam Myers Crockery store, while at left, a boot-shaped sign hangs from one of the shops, reading "C. Dillerd Boot and Shoe Store [...] made & repaired". Taller buildings are visible farther in, past the intersection. A clock at right shows the time to be 1:32.
