These refugees were re-located outside of their hometown after their houses were destroyed by a Salvadoran Army assault in Berlín. Guerrilleros occupied the town of Berlín for four days before the Salvadoran military assaulted the town with rockets launched from airplanes. ishop Arturo Rivera y Damas, bishop of San Salvador, denounced the assault a few days after and announced that the destruction left more than 300 people (mostly civilians, and few Salvadoran soldiers and rebels) dead during that week of February.
