Photograph caption dated June 6, 1980 reads, "The charred remains of Cathy Swain's Pinto." Swain, 22, of Northridge, was driving near Vanowen Street and Hollywood Way in Burbank when she was struck from behind by a larger and heavier vehicle, driven by David Villegas, 19, of Burbank. Swain was pronounced dead at the scene after her Pinto, which hadn't been modified to correct its faulty gasoline tank, exploded.
