Photograph article dated December 7, 1964 partially reads, "A massive strike-lockout swept through the meat industry today, cutting off the Southland's major supply of fresh meats. Picket lines, although delayed in the Valley, were set up around all Thriftimart stores and Shoppers Markets following a strike vote yesterday by some 12,000 meat cutters, members of five AFL-CIO Locals." Note: Pictured is Jack Dautrieve, delicatessen manager, looking over the dwindling meat counter at the Valley Plaza Thriftimart.
