Description
Title supplied by cataloger.
The Exposition was launched to commemorate the landing of the Spanish padres and the founding of California and to invite industrial activity to the L.A. area. The Exposition buildings, designed by architect Hugh R. Davies, were modeled on North Africa's walled cities.
A man standing on a stage decorated as a plaza delivers a speech in front of an audience at the 1928 Pacific Southwest Exposition in Long Beach. Other officials sit in chairs behind the speaker. A piano is to the speaker's left on the stage and behind him is a long table. Photographers stand on a platform, right, to document the occasion and a band is seated just in front of the stage.
