A worker posing in 1982 with one of the city's new recycling trucks. In November 1982 Burbank began curbside pickup of recyclables including cans, bottles, and newspapers. The pickups occurred every other week on regular trash collection day. Residents were given recycling pails--green for glass items and white for cans--distributed by the California Conservation Corps and paid for by a state grant.
