Description
Hand-drawn map of Santa Clara Valley showing locations of country schools. Narration by Rambo begins, "This map of 1887 and at turn of the century period is devoted strictly to country schools. Otherwise in 1895, within the county and city there were 13,738 children from ages 5 to 17. Serving this area were 280 teachers, 32 males and 248 females. Two thirds were graduates of San Jose State Normal School (Est. 1857)..."
