Description
Nisei male, born on August 12, 1910 in Sacramento, California. As a young man he worked in agriculture and opened a retail produce store. In 1939 he opened a successful supermarket which was sold at a great loss in 1942 during evacuation when he was thirty-two. The family was sent to Walerga Assembly Center, then to Tule Lake, California. Later in 1942 the family went to Utah to work as seasonal farm workers. Percy was of draft age but was exempted due to having seven dependents. The Masaki�s returned to Sacramento in 1945 and Percy changed his occupation to the business world. This enabled him to help his three children go to college and into the health professions. One son is a physician, another is a dentist, his daughter is a physical therapist. The appendix in the bound copy includes honors and awards bestowed upon Percy and Gladys Masaki from many sources including Congressman Robert Matsui.
