Description
Photographic portrait of brothers Ralph and Clarence Kinkaid with a load of hay on Pico Street looking east from Figueroa Street, ca.1888. The two brothers sit at the help of a horse-drawn wagon loaded with hay, which spills out from either side. The residence of Judge O. Melveny is located on the northeast corner of the street while the Fred Barnen residence is located on the southeast and the Horace Bell on the southwest. The Kinkaid's ranch itself is located on the northwest corner. Trees line either side of Pico with buildings visible to the right and utility poles and a hedge row to the left. Streetcar rails are visible in the unpaved road.
