Description
Microfilm of eighteen diary volumes kept by Oliver B. Huntington between 1843 and 1899. The second reel contains volumes 12-18. Volume twelve was kept while Huntington traveled to Fort Bridger in 1856 and to Carson Valley in 1857. The remaining volumes 13-18 were kept while Huntington was living in Utah, primarily at Springville, from 1858-1899. All inquiries about these items should be directed to the H. Oliver B. Huntington (1823-1907), a son of William Huntington and Zina Baker Huntington, was born in Jefferson County, New York. In 1835 his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and moved to Kirtland in 1836. They moved to Missouri in 1838 and later to Nauvoo. Huntington served on a mission to New York in 1843 and to England in 1846-1847. He traveled to Utah in 1848, returned to New York for a time, and finally settled in Utah in 1852. Huntington primarily lived in Springville and worked as a school superintendent, bee inspector, farmer, and stock raiser. He died in Springville in 1907.
