Consuelo Castillo de Bonzo first opened a restaurant in 1924 on the site of present-day Los Angeles City Hall. On April 30, 1930, she opened Casa La Golondrina Cafe on Olvera Street. The restaurant was the first Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles and is located in the Pelanconi House, formerly a winery and the oldest brick house in the oldest part of Downtown Los Angeles. Photograph caption dated December 4, 1956 reads "La Canada Cubs join in singing.
