View of a broad street which fills the bottom half of the photo; at mid-way into photo the street begins with buildings on both sides of street and groups of people at the corner on left side; on left corner is "Palace Hotel" identified on the top; buildings next to it recede into distance; on right side at corner is a 2 story brick building; a small market may be on ground floor as there is an advertisement for Coke on the side; above ground floor are a number of tall windows; a multi-story building dominates at the end of the right side of the street. 1989-1334. Walter Hepting was born in Sacramento (father was from Switzerland, mother from Germany). Worked for the State Treasurer's Office. Was amateur historian, collected old photographs and images of Sacramento. "Former D. O. Mills Bank, right, erected in 1865."
