Description
Refugee women and children gather in a hut to eat in the refugee camp of Cuauhtémoc, Chiapas. A little boy and girl in the foreground spread their legs out on the dirt floor to eat. Their bowl and cup are seen near them. Two women seen in the back hold infants and other children are seen eating in the area. In the days following the Guatemalan attack at the nearby refugee camp of El Chupadero on April 30, 1984, one of the most violent assaults of this kind that left seven refugees dead, refugees from the camp of Cuauhtémoc fled their settlement to avoid the same fate.
