Description
Engine 1, Chemical 1, Truck 1 on North Market Street. The building to the right is the St. Charles Hotel. Photo caption: Engine 1, Chemical 1 and Truck 1 were all housed in the main fire station on North Market Street just off Santa Clara Street. This 1916 picture shows that the department became completely motorized but the two steam pumpers were now pulled by three-wheeled Knox-Martin tractors.
