Description
Five women and a little girl are depicted outside by a decorative fence overlooking a body of water. The woman on the far left wears a straw hat with white and lavender plumes. Her dress is white with a square neck and long sleeves. The collar and sleeves are entirely ruffles of one lavender row alternating with two white rows. The same pattern continues down the side of her skirt and around the hem. The parts of her skirt without the ruffles are plain white. The woman to her right wears her wavy hair drawn back and adorned with red ribbon. She is removing her white gloves. Her dress is tan with a jewel neck and short sleeves. The yoke of her bodice is white with black dots, with narrow ruffles at the neck and center front. There are brown bows at her bust and on her sleeves. Her sleeves have alternating brown and tan vertical stripes. Her waistline is outlined in brown cord. Her skirt is tan with a wide brown sash at the side of the skirt with brown ball fringe and three tassels hanging at the ends. Around the hem is a ruffle with brown ball trim. The little girl in front of her wears a white Breton hat with red, white, and blue plaid around the brim. Her dress has a scoop neck, short sleeves, and ends just below the knee. The yoke of the bodice is red, white, and blue plaid. Her midpiece is blue. Her sleeves are white and puffed. Her skirt has pleats and around the bottom is another wide band of red, white, and blue plaid, with three graduated short accents of plaid above on each of the pleats. She wears blue ankle boots and holds a doll wearing a blue dress in her right hand. The woman to her right is seated and wears her hair drawn back in waves from a center part. Her dress has a blue bodice and a white ruched skirt. Over her bodice, she wears a white jacket with ruffled edges. Her bodice has buttons down the center front and the hem of her skirt has ruffled edging. Her accessories include white gloves, a flowered bracelet on each arm, and a red fan in her left hand. The woman behind her wears a bowler hat with green ribbon and white plumes. Her dress has a white blouse and a light pink skirt and bodice. Black lace trims her bodice, sleeves, and waist. The woman on the far right wears her hair adorned with pink flowers. Her dress is green and off the shoulder with short sleeves. Her dress has white ruffles around her collar and sleeves. She has white lace edging her sleeves, the back of the bodice at hip level, the bottom of the green overskirt, and at the bottom of her white skirt. Along the lace are black lace rosettes. Her accessories include a bracelet and a red fan in her right hand. All the skirts are very wide; it is the height of the crinoline fashion.
