Rev. Nityanondo Borgoary and Mrs Nukiswary Borgoary, NELC, Assam, North India, 1983. After a period as teacher N. Borgoary became ordained pastor in 1981. From 1984 three Santal Dioceses, one Bengali and one Boro Diocese were founded – each with their own bishop, consecrated by Bishop Munshi M. Tudu, 18th November 1984. One of these was Rev. N. Borgoary, being the first bishop of the Boro/Bodo Diocese. From 1998-2001, Bishop N. Borgoary also served as Moderator/the supreme Leader of NELC (The Moderator is elected among the 5 bishops for a two-year term, but may be re-elected).
