Description
In 1863, a mob of approximately 200 men broke into the county jail in Los Angeles, and grabbed Boston Daimwood (or Damewood) and his 3 cohorts, along with a young man named Wood, who was being held for stealing chickens. All 5 were lynched. In the image, the bodies have been removed to raise awareness of this little-known chapter of American history. "Execution Scene in Los Angeles, CA." is written on the top of the image. A portion of the writing on the bottom is illegible.
