Photograph was edited for publication purposes. The Wayside Honor Rancho was renamed The Peter J. Pitchess Detention Center in 1983. Photograph caption dated September 14, 1959 reads "Kitchen duty. Saturnino Guieb, right, wears his deputy sheriff's badge over cook's uniform as he and prisoner, left, clean giant pot in prison kitchen. Professionals are hired in farming, kitchen and industrial departments, to direct activities. Many funnel inmates into jobs when they leave prison. Baker Alfred Caruso has placed 14."
