Brightly-colored little homes, 100 of them nestling in a walnut grove, on August 1, 1935, were nearing completion in the federal government's small farm homestead project at El Monte. One man, working three hours a day on the acre surrounding it, has raised $75 worth of vegetables and berries since April.
