Description
Several cars move their way along the top of the Yolo Bypass Weir in this January 4, 1934, photograph. The Sacramento Weir opened in 1916 as part of a flood control project which involved construction in Sacramento, Yolo, Colusa, Sutter, Butte, Solano, and Contra Costa counties along the Sacramento River. Construction began in 1914 after two years of stagnation in the project due to issues in cooperation and funding between state, federal, and county governments.
