Description
Two women wearing Paris fashions from 1832. The woman on the left wears a long-sleeved, patterned dress with voluminous leg-of-mutton sleeves. Her dress has an all over serpentine pattern of green and pink. She wears a white ribbon edged in green and secured with a narrow oval buckle at the waist. She wears white gloves and black shoes. Her collar is made of three layers and form a high collar, a middle collar, and an epaulet, that extend over the sleeves and down to the center of the bodice. She also has a small lace ruffled collar at the neck. She wears a white bonnet with narrow white lace ruffles and pink ribbons. The top of the bonnet is decorated with pink and white feathers. She holds her left hand near her face in a contemplative manner, and her right hand rests on her waist. The woman on the right wears the same style of dress in a difference material. She faces away to display the back of the dress, which is gray with the three collar layers all edged in green. At her neck are narrow white lace ruffles. She wears a white bonnet with green ribbons and green and white feathers. She sits on a wooden chair upholstered with green and purple fabric.
