Title
Elm tree before pruning. In front of 928 Fresno Ave., Berkeley. Photo in Spring 1928. About 18-20 years old. Previous to 1928 the trees on this street had been "pollarded". Beginning in 1928 the new park superintendent started (1927 elsewhere in the city) a different method of pruning giving the trees a chance to develop more naturally. #4026 to 4031 are the same tree.
