Description
de Forest double wing audion amplifier (two grids and two "wings" set on either side of the filaments), 3 1/2 volts, tantalum filament, for first step only. Pat. Feb 18, 1908. S.2216. With two wires descending (one green, one red). Double audions, a 1909 refinement to increase the sensitivity of the tube and gain greater energy output, were sold at a higher price. This is an improved version, made in 1915 under the supervision of Robert F. Gowen at the High Bridge Laboratory. See 2003-1-1, a 1914 Hudson filament audion.
