Description
Charles Manson is led back to his cell following a session in the penalty phase of his trial. After heard making death threats to Bugliosi and others if he gets death penalty, the jury was ordered to be sequestered until the end of the penalty trial for their safety. Photograph dated March 23, 1971. Photograph caption dated December 8, 1979 reads, "...and the lunatic Charles Manson..." Photograph caption dated September 21, 1989 reads, "Mason family murders. Cult leader Charles Manson and followers convicted of murdering nine people in 1969. Death sentences commuted to life in 1972."
