Photograph caption dated September 12, 1961 reads "More than 5,000 German-Americans turned out for a German Day festival sponsored by the German-American league at Devonshire Downs in Northridge Sunday. Eduard C. Schneider, consul general of the Federal Republic of West Germany, and Frederick Waller, consul general of Austria, were among the honored guests at the all-day celebration which has been a Southland tradition since 1905."
