Description
Photograph of a crowd at Sawtelle Soldiers' Home during a visit by President William McKinley, Los Angeles, May 9, 1901. Men and women sit in chairs and stand on the lawn outside the porch of a large building, which features a clock at its center roof flanked to either side by two spired towers. Other spectators have climbed off the balcony extending from this roof and are now sitting on the roof below. The porch itself is decorated in an American flag motif. Palms and other trees are interspersed on the lawn. A man on crutches and a man with a can walk down the main thoroughfare towards the gathering on the porch.
