Description
Student actors perform on a makeshift stage with a white canopy in Blanchard Park on Wash Day, 1901. A tent set off to one side likely serves as a dressing room. On the left side of the stage, a group of actors in dark robes and hats are gathered around a man in tights seated on a dais with an umbrella. In the center, a woman dressed all in white holds a basket. Behind her, a group of similarly attired actors are seated on the ground. One actor is sitting in a wheelbarrow. In the foreground, a ladder is leaning up against the trunk of a tree.
