Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated June 15, 1962 reads, "Children re-enact Iwo Jima flag raising - Youngsters from Erwin St. School in Van Nuys re-enact scene of U.S. marines in World War II raising the American flag over Iwo Jima. The flag raising ceremony was part of a Flag Day pageant today at Valley College in Van Nuys. The event, sponsored by the Los Angeles City Schools' East Valley Elementary District, featured 10 skits devoted to famous American flags and historical incidents. Valley Western star Monty Montana re-created Paul Revere's famous ride, and more than 3,000 school children participated in the pageant."
