Description
St. Francis Dam in San Francisquito Canyon near Saugus was completed in 1926 and failed in 1928. It was part of the Owens Valley Aqueduct System. This post-failure photograph shows the main part of the dam in the background right of the picture. Several large chunks of the dam have washed down with the water and are seen in the left middle ground. A small stream of water is also visible in the foreground, and dotted here and there in the picture are people looking over the damage.
