Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated August 30, 1950 partially reads, "Seventeen boys, ages 14 to 18, reported to have planned to participate in a gang fight in Sunland Park were booked at Van Nuys police station. Police said one group was from the Glendale-La Crescenta area, the other from Sunland and Tujunga. Officer R. Selo and Edward Elliott, answering a disturbance call, said they observed 12 boys milling around under a tree in the park. As the officers approached the gang dropped a collection of weapons, which included several links of rubber hose, an icepick, a crescent wrench, a knife made from a saw, a length of chain, a sap and a lead weight. While the offiders wer interrogating the youths, a car containing five more boys drove up and they also were taken into custody." Photograph caption reads, "Gang fighters - Valley police detain members of rival gangs in station assembly-room. Boys were taken to Van Nuys station from Sunland Park."
