Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated October 30, 1963 reads, "Oldest sets--At left is the original cathedral used in the 1923 Lon Chaney picture, 'Hunchback of Notre Dame.' It also 'played' Notre Dame in Universal's first Academy Award picture, 'All Quiet on the Western Front.' At right is an even older set, the oldest on the 300-acre back lot. Like the Notre Dame cathedral, the 'plantation house' came into being during the silent days and has since been used in hundreds of pictures. Its most recent 'portrayal' was in the Sinatra Enterprises Western, '4 For Texas.'"; See photographs #00109474 through #00109484 for all images in this series.
