Description
In 1892, Mr. Garvey subdivided 4500 acres of his ranch and later gave land to the county for a school. The school shown was erected in 1891 and Mr. Garvey's son, Richard Garvey Jr., shown in the photo, was the first to graduate. It started with 14 pupils. Today a school of 1500 pupils, believed the largest country school in the nation, stands on the site. Photo dated: December 18, 1930.
